Indeed, even talking about theology makes you a nerd, doesn't it? This stuff is reserved for the Sunday morning sermon. And guess who can speak on "theology." Only the clergy.
That is why I hate "theology" as the term has come to be understood. Here is a link to a chapter in my book in which "theology" and theology are distinguished.
I really do not enjoy the fact that I am unable to attend virtually any church in Christendom due to my convictions. Of course I am fully aware it has deprived my family and me of Christian fellowship for twenty-plus years now. But what is that to me? Fellowship is not my highest object. Living according to the truth of the Word as I understand it, in good conscience, whether I understand correctly or not, is my object.
When we live according to the truth of the Word, it will normally be a blessing to our family, church, friends, and community. But what if living according to the truth causes me and/or my family to suffer? You will have to admit that this kind of suffering is not at all inconsistent with the Lord's teaching, or the teaching of His apostles. And yet this suffering is, I suppose, a blessing, though we cannot understand these things right now.
I am fully aware that I will answer for my convictions at the judgment of the church by our Lord Jesus Christ, the same as every believer. I will either receive my reward or else I will have to be satisfied with eternity in heaven. And make no mistake, I will be satisfied with eternity in heaven even if I receive no reward. Better last in heaven than first in hell. "Last in heaven" is still living with the Father and the Son for all eternity.
If I am proud of my criticism of the churches, the Lord will judge me for that. If I have been intolerant, the Lord will judge me. If I have been hateful, the Lord will judge me. If I have been divisive, the Lord will judge me. If I have taught falsely, the Lord will judge me.
The Lord will judge all His saints for rewards. And in that day many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first. No doubt it is also true that some who are last now will be last then. Well, I am happy to be last right now. I figure my stock can only go up. If it doesn't, why, virtually the entire church of believers will be able to say they told me so. Of course, the legions of nominal Christians will not be able to tell me anything, for they will be in hell.
I eagerly await the day when the Lord Jesus Christ will "stop every mouth," including mine. Oh yes, I definitely want to hear His "view of things." His are not opinions. Come, Lord Jesus!
